Adblock and Adblock Plus extensions available now for Microsoft Edge

April 2023 · 2 minute read

Adblock Plus and Adblock are finally available as a free download for Microsoft Edge. It has been a long time coming, but now Edge users can take advantage of what these awesome extensions have to offer. They are not yet on the same level as the Firefox and Chrome versions, but in time, we expect them to be.

In order to download Adblock Plus and Adblock for Microsoft Edge, you must first be running the latest Windows 10 Insider build. Now, both extensions are available via the Windows Store, but don’t try searching for them because they are in preview right now and as such, a special link is needed.

Once you’ve gotten yourself to the correct page within the Windows Store, do not hesitate to download either one of the extensions. However, as we’ve stated above, they are lacking key features right now, but that shouldn’t matter much because the most important thing – blocking ads — is done very well.

Once either Adblock Plus or Adblock is installed, a notification will pop up in Microsoft Edge to let you know. It is then possible to decide whether or not to have the icon beside the address bar.

While we know you’re going to have a lot of fun blocking ads, we only ask that you consider placing Windows Report in your whitelist. To do it, click on the icon, then click on Whitelisted Domains. After that, copy windowsreport.com into the clipboard and paste it in the box. Bear in mind, there should be no http:// attached to the domain name or it will not work.

Both Adblock Plus and Adblock are the top ad blocking extensions available on the web today. However, in the coming months, we expect others to support Microsoft Edge with their own offerings.
