As you probably know, Windows Live Mail, or better known now as Outlook is a personal information manager and email client provided by Microsoft.
It is used by millions of customers around the world, primarily because it is free, but also because it has proven itself to be quite stable throughout the years.
Outlook Live’s Search function seems to be flawed
Just because it is one of the most popular web clients in the world today doesn’t mean that it doesn’t come with its own fair share of issues.
Such would be the case of some users that have reported problems with Outlook Live’s Search function:
I search for string in Inbox (yahoogroups.com).
It returns results, but limited to 75 messages, which is a total JOKE. After looking through the settings, I can see no way to change this default. Absolutely infuriating.
Select 75 messages (^ a), select delete all, and they disappear. Inbox tally goes down, deleted items number populates.
2nd search and selection, works OK (sometimes). 3rd search etc? Nope. Despite finding Emails via the search, and selecting them all, and requesting to delete said selection, nothing happens. Well, it goes through the motion of deleting items, but inbox numbers stay the same, deleted items doesn’t grow. Another search brings up the selected Emails from the previous step, obviously not deleted.
As it would seem, Outlook‘s Search function alternates between not showing enough results, working only occasionally, or not working at all.
Comments were quick to appear, but none could provide a solid solution that users could try, except reporting everything to Outlook‘s Support Page.
All in all, the entire situation seems like a combination of a common issue and a design flaw on Outlook‘s behalf.
No word about the issue has been released Microsoft, but if they happen to release any statement, we will let you know.
