If you can’t see quarantined Outlook files and messages, rest assured, your system and Outlook account are not to blame. This is actually a general bug that has been affecting Outlook, Microsoft Office, Office 365 for admins and Office 365 for business for one week now.

More specifically, if you try to access quarantined files and messages, an unexpected error may occur. Here is the complete error message that you may get: Request: /api/QuarantineMessage/QueryMessage Status code: 500 Exception: System.ArgumentException

The good news is that Microsoft is already aware of this problem and its engineers are working on a fix.

This issue was posted to the Service Health Dashboard (SHD) as incident EX118103 starting at Wednesday, Sep 06 2017 11:57 PM (UTC). The user experience of this incident is: An “unexpected error” may occur when trying to access quarantined messages from the Security & Compliance center.

Microsoft is working to implement a temporary solution that will fix the problem for admins attempting to view the quarantine page from the Security & Compliance Center. The Redmond giant estimates that the fix will be deployed by September 15. The scheduled patch will fix the issue only for admins.

Microsoft said that its engineers are continuing to work on a fix to address the issue for other user types. Unfortunately, the company has yet to confirm when exactly the second fix will be available to users.
