Pros Free 10-day trial Easy to install Headphone-based calibration Cons Expensive

Sonarworks True-Fi free trial

If you’ve heard anything about Sonarworks before, then you’re probably aware that you need a paid license to use their products. Furthermore, the price they charge for their products is not exactly worth a cup of coffee, either.

That being considered, you’ll probably be glad to learn that Sonarworks True-Fi has a free trial. You can download this utility on your PC and use it for free for a full 10 days. There’s no other limitation other than time. When the 10 trial days come to an end, you won’t be able to run this program any longer.

How to install Sonarworks True-Fi

Assuming that you’ve already located and downloaded the free trial installer, just launch it. You’ll be greeted by a simple, one-button installation window.

All you have to do to install Sonarworks True-Fi on your PC is click the Install button. There’s no need to accept any End User License Agreement or perform any kind of configuration. Once you hit Install, there’s no turning back.

You can’t decide on the destination path or control shortcut creation, which is rather inconvenient. However, if you’re looking for simplicity, this program’s installation has it galore.

Register a Sonarworks True-Fi account

Before you can run Sonarworks True-Fi, you’ll need to provide it with a valid email address. You won’t need to confirm your account creation or anything, but activating the trial requires a valid email address.

Once you’re past that step, you’ll have to select a headphone model from the list. If you can’t find your model in the list, you can add individually-calibrated ones by clicking the corresponding link.

After doing so, you’ll need to provide the app with a bunch of details such as your gender and age. Sonarworks True-Fi will try to adjust your audition experience based on your user-created profile.

Excellent headphone calibration software

The main window of the app fashions a minimalistic, user-friendly interface with intuitive features. You can see the model of the headphones you’ve selected, a frequency chart, the personalization menu, age and bass adjustment sliders, and a power button.

You can perform this couple of adjustments easily, by simply moving the slider left or right until you’re satisfied with the result. If you want to turn off the Sonarworks True-Fi calibration scheme, just hit the power button.

A few configuration options

If you’re not happy with the way things are configured by default, this program has a Settings section. You can access it by clicking the gear-shaped button in the main window.

The Device settings screen lets you choose the output device, adjust Sonarworks True-Fi’s startup behavior, lower the volume to avoid clipping, capture the device’s sound, and enable the exclusive mode.

There’s no harm if you misconfigure this program’s parameters. Therefore, if you enable or disable anything by accident, you can easily reverse the process.

What is Sonarworks True-Fi?

All in all, Sonarworks True-Fi is a handy software solution that could help you calibrate your headphones for a better audition experience. Calibration depends on your headphone’s model and your personal profile.

You can install the program quite quickly, and configuring it is not more difficult, either. If you believe that your headphones could do with some tuning, this might be the quick fix you’re looking for.
