RPA in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is on the receiving end of many updates and improvements, based on multiple revelations during the company’s Build 2020 event. Soon, users of the Office 365 platform will be able to leverage Power Automate business process templates.

Also, the company revealed that it had acquired Softomotive, the creator of WinAutomation, a robotic process automation (RPA) tool. Evidently, Microsoft wants to empower the users of its software solutions to streamline workflows, with limited or no coding skills at all.

Microsoft Teams RPA templates

The objective of Teams-Power Automate integration is to enable users to automate their day-to-day workflows.

But even with RPA capabilities in Microsoft Teams, you would still have to start from scratch if you wanted to automate a specific business process.

So, Microsoft is working on a Power Automate template to help you quickly get started. The feature is something of a pre-built model that you can use to streamline your everyday workflows.

What about the fact that your tasks and work streams are specific to your organization? You may customize any pre-built template to suit your unique business workflows.

“Meanwhile, new Power Automate business process templates for Teams will allow creators to streamline workflows using pre-built templates, or as a base to customize their own. Finally, new Teams-specific triggers and actions will enable you to create custom message extensions, automate @mentioning and message posting to channels, and customize bot names.”

As Teams gets smarter, you will be able to use bots to @mention people or teams. Additionally, the AI agents will have the ability to send messages to the relevant channels in Teams.

Unfortunately, business automation templates are not yet available in Teams.

Other expected updates

Microsoft Teams will also get the ability to launch apps, chats, or meetings into separate, resizable windows.

Similarly, the platform boasts Power Virtual Agents integration. This feature facilitates the creation of Teams chatbots.
