Some Linksys router owners have posted on numerous software forums about their device constantly dropping the connection. One user stated:
I recently bought an EA-7500 to get faster speeds and ideally a longer range. But unfortunately ever since I set it up it seems to drop the internet connection about once a day. This morning the connection had dropped, so I rebooted the router. 20 minutes later it reset itself and dropped the connection.
As you can see, it doesn’t matter if your wireless signal might show up as strong, it serves no purpose when the wireless connection gets constantly disrupted.
Are you also trying to troubleshoot a Linksys router that keeps losing Internet connectivity at seemingly random intervals? That is precisely why we’ve created this list of solutions for you.
What can I do when Linksys router is not staying connected?
1. Change your router’s channel
This issue could be the result of your router operating on the same frequency as your cordless telephone system or other nearby devices.
That’s why we strongly advise you to change the router’s channel to 1 or 11. These are both considered non-overlapping channels.
2. Make sure that your router is running on the latest firmware
If the wireless connection gets disrupted even after performing all the above steps thoroughly, there’s one other thing to consider. Without further ado, it’s time to double-check the router’s firmware.

3. Give your router’s Wi-Fi a unique SSID
Every Linksys wireless router has a network name assigned to it. The technical term for it is Service Set Identifier (SSID). It’s time to give your network a unique SSID and forget about using the classic “Linksys”.
Leave it this way and don’t act surprised when trying to connect to your neighbor’s router instead of yours. You could also set SSID Broadcast to Enabled. This will further help your computer find and lock on to your router‘s signal.
4. Reduce wireless interference
Adjusting the 2.4GHz wireless channel to 1 or 11, along with customizing the Wireless Settings of the router should provide a stable broadcast signal. If the problem persists, then we suggest reducing the wireless interference immediately.
Do note that your router may be losing connectivity because of physical obstacles such as walls and floors. Try to move it to a different location, preferably in the central part of your house.
These are a few of the potential fixes for the Linksys router dropping connection problem.
