How to fix VGA issues on Windows 10, 7

  • Use Windows 10’s built-in troubleshooter

    • 1. Boot into Safe Mode

    This tutorial explains how we can boot in Safe mode in order for Windows 10, 8 to load only the necessary video card drivers. This will help us change back the settings we have previously done and fix our video issue.

  • One easy way to get into Safe mode is by pressing the “Shift” button and click on restart the PC.
    Note: You can access this feature even if you are not logged into your Windows 10, 8 account by clicking on the power icon button situated in the lower right corner of the screen and holding the Shift key pressed.
  • After you booted the PC into safe mode you can undo all the changes you’ve done to the graphics feature and get back to normal Windows setup.
  • After you changed the graphics settings in Safe Mode now you only need to reboot the PC to start the Windows 10, 8 normally.

    2. Use an external HDMI monitor

    If you have a laptop and you cannot get into Windows 10, 8, 7 because you have nothing on the screen, the first thing you need to do is connect the laptop to an external display via HDMI cable.

  • After you booted your laptop with the alternative display now you can undo the changes you have done to the graphics drivers and settings.
  • You will need to go to Device manager. You can do this by going to Start screen and type “Device Manager”.
  • Click (left click) on the “Device Manager” icon to open it.
  • Expand “Display adapters” section by left clicking on it.disable display adapter windows 10 device manager
  • Now right click on Intel HD Graphics and select the option “Disable”.
  • Reboot the laptop and see if you can use your graphics card properly.

    • 3. Use Windows 10’s built-in troubleshooter

    To run the hardware troubleshooter on other Windows versions, open Control Panel, type ‘troubleshoot’ in the search menu located in the upper right-hand corner and select Troubleshooting. Click on View All and select Hardware and Devices.
