    Setting the system’s language usually happens when installing the operating system, but this doesn’t apply if you simply chose the wrong one in the installation process, or you bought a PC from another country that already has Windows 11 installed.

    The keyboard language, as the name suggests, is the language in which you will use your keyboard to write texts. This is a more localized option, thus enabling you to have your system’s language in your native choice while writing texts in another language.

    How can I change the system/display language?

    1. Using an already installed language pack

  • Right-click the Windows logo on your taskbar, and choose Settings.
  • Click on Time & language.
  • Choose Language & region from the list of options.
  • Under the Windows display language section, click on the dropdown and choose the new display language.

    • 2. While downloading a new language pack

  • Click the Windows icon from the taskbar.
  • Choose the gear Settings icon.
  • Click on Time & Language from the sidebar.
  • Choose the Language & region option.
  • Click the Add a language button.
  • Search for your preffered language, select it from the list, and press Next.
  • Choose any options from the Optional features section.
  • Tick the box next to the Set as my Windows display language.
  • Click Install.

    For these options to be available, you will need to have the language pack already installed on your PC.

    1. Use the taskbar

  • Click on the language button, situated on the bottom right of the taskbar.
  • Select what language you want to switch your keyboard to.

  • Press the Windows + Space once to activate the taskbar Keyboard layout.
  • While holding the Windows key pressed, tap space to choose the next available language.

    • Why is the Language Switcher missing from my taskbar?

    There might be situations in which the language bar (switcher) is nowhere to be found in your Windows 11 taskbar, and this implies that it has been deactivated.

    To enable it again, simply follow these steps:

  • Press the Windows icon on the taskbar.
  • Choose Settings.
  • Click on Time & language.
  • Choose Typing.
  • Select Advanced keyboard settings.
  • Untick the box next to the Use this desktop language bar when available.
  • Your Language Switcher should not appear in the taskbar.
