If you are worried about the security of your future smartphone, you’re probably wondering what you should opt for – iPhones, Android devices or Windows Phone. While this is highly debatable, security expert Kaspersky suggests Windows Phone may have an advantage.

There have been countless reports until now which are trying to decide which mobile operating system is the most secure of them all. Another fresh report is now coming from Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of the IT security company Kaspersky Lab. He claims that Windows Phone is “so far very clean” while both iOS and Android have lots of vulnerabilities.

The well-known security expert has made the affirmation whilst speaking at a security conference in Australia. He further added:

“Criminals are obsessed with iOS and there are many, many vulnerabilities,” Kaspersky said, adding that with “millions of brutal attacks” Android, too, is “not safe”. He noted that hackers are increasingly targeting mobile devices “with stats showing 97% of users did mobile banking or some other activity that revealed passwords.” He also said that “Windows is a much better operating system than the rest (iOS, OS X and Android) and Microsoft is tightening it up much more in the next version.”

To see this kind of statement coming from such a high-profile security expert is not a thing to overlook, we can be sure about that. Kaspersky also said:

“The most dangerous scenario is with iPhones. It is less probable because it is very difficult to develop malware for iPhones, because the operating system is closed to outside programmers. But every system has a vulnerability. If it happens—in the worst-case scenario, if millions of the devices are infected—there is no antivirus, because antivirus companies do not have any rights to develop true end-point security for Apple.

Kaspersky also revealed that he uses an old Sony Ericsson feature phone for mobile communications. So, if you’re planning to buy a Windows Phone smartphone in the near future, maybe this could be yet another reason to do it?
