Vudu has decided to expand HDR movies to millions of more devices, news that was just published on the company’s official blog.

The company’s goal was to bring users the highest quality movie and TV experience across more devices and platforms, measuring its commitment to quality through support for an enhanced range and vibrancy of HDR technology. This began two years ago with Dolby Vision HDR.

HDR10 brings the increased color depth and richness of HDR to more devices. HDR10 support is quickly becoming a standard feature on more 4K TVs and streaming devices.

In other words, more and more people will be able to enjoy HDR and the cinematic experience it facilitates in their own homes.

You can enjoy HDR across more devices

From now on, users will be able to watch 4K content enhanced with HDR10 on compatible Samsung and LG TVs, the Xbox One X and Xbox One S, and on the Roku 4K and NVIDIA Shield devices.

If you recently purchased a new 4K TV or streaming device in the last year, it probably comes with HDR-ready equipment. Vudu customers will have more choices from which they will be able to enjoy the latest digital video technology. Complete HDR support comes across both Dolby Vision and HDR10 formats.

Getting started

After you confirm that you have a Vudu-certified 4K + HDR enabled TV or another device and that you are using the latest Vudu app, everything is set.

HDR is available on a growing list of 4K UHD titles and at launch, there are over 36 movies with HDR10 support. Vudu is currently working to bringing HDR to more 4K UHD movies in the future.
