Microsoft just released a new build of Windows 10 to all Insiders on the Fast Ring. Although the build is not as feature-rich as some of its predecessors, it further prepares the system for the Creators Update, which is expected in April.
However, outside its new features, Windows 10 Preview build 15014 also brings its fair share of issues. In fact, according to Microsoft, there’s one issue that won’t allow some insiders to even install the build: The storport.sys bugcheck (GSOD) bug.
Unfortunately, Microsoft still doesn’t have a proper solution for this issue. However, even though we don’t know an exact solution that would definitely address this problem, we recall similar problems in the past.
For example, the “driver_irql_not_less_or_equal (mfewfpic.sys)” error used to prevent users from upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 10, while the “driver irql not less or equal (ndu.sys)” was already present in Windows 10 Preview before.
Both of these errors caused BSODs, and as the storport.sys bugheck causes GSODs, using some of the solutions from our articles might fix the problem.
Since we weren’t able to test this issue, we still don’t know anything about the confirmed solution. That’s why we rely on you to let us know if solutions from our previous articles were actually helpful. If you’ve tried our workarounds, please let us know about the results in the comments below
