    Once you’ve obtained the VLC player, the next obvious step is to set up your camera and make sure it’s working properly. After that, we can finally move to employing webcam as a desktop background. These instructions should lead you through the complete procedure:

  • Install and start VLC Media Player.
  • Press Control (Ctrl) + C to summon the Open Capture device sub-menu.
  • Under the Capture Device tab, set following options like this:
    • Capture mode -> Direct Show
    • Video Device Name -> Your camera name
    • Audio Device Name -> None
  • After that, open Advanced Options and change Aspect Ratio to counter the display’s Aspect Ratio.
