Many users can’t download Edge after the latest update

December 2022 · 2 minute read

In a Reddit thread posted only a couple of hours ago, one of the users complains about the fact that, after installing the latest Edge update, he can’t seem to download the browser anymore.

To be more specific, the user only wanted to try out the new News and Interests feature, but it seems that the browser had a mind of its own in this matter.

The Microsoft Edge download button is not functioning

The accusations that the user has against this latest piece of software he recently added to his PC go a bit deeper that the Edge download button not working.

According to him, upon installing the most recent Microsoft Edge update, he started experiencing abnormal behavior while using his laptop.

Some of the advice received by another, more tech-savy user was to try to download Edge from the Google Chrome browser, or others as such.

Not even this solution seemed to work, as the problem still persists and the advice received did little to help him in this matter.

It won’t let me uninstall Edge and opening the edge download on Chrome and going to the edge website just says “Launch Edge on Windows 10”. And obviously, Edge won’t launch.

How can I fix this issue?

An obvious workaround for this issue would be to simply uninstall Edge completely and try to re-download it.

If you find yourself in a situation similar to the one we mentioned above, where you are unable to classically uninstall the browser, you can always download uninstaller software and try removing it that way.

If even this doesn’t do the trick for you, ultimately, you can just reinstall Windows and solve the issue.
