Although Java applets have been disappearing from the web, some websites still have them. So, some users might still encounter an error message that states, Your browser does not support Java.

Java applets used to be required in order to correctly open web-based pages.

Most browsers already had the Java applet built-in and all computers used to have the Java application installed.

1. Enable Internet Explorer mode for Edge

  • Click the Setting and more menu button in Edge.
  • Select the Settings option to open that tab.
  • Click Default browser on the left side of the tab.

  • Click Close to exit the Trusted site window.
  • Select the Apply option.

  • Select the Agree option.
  • Next, select a listed Java version.
  • Press the Next button to uninstall the selected Java version.
  • Restart Windows after uninstalling Java.
  • Thereafter, click Java Download on the Java website.
  • Click the Agree and Start Free Download button.
  • Then open the downloaded Java installer to reinstall the latest Java.

  • Open the IE Tab extension page in a Chromium-based browser.
  • Click the Add to Chrome (or Opera) button on that page.
  • Select the Add extension option to confirm.
  • Next, click on the IE Tab extension button shown directly below. An ietabhelper.exe will download when you click that button.

    5. Check TLS 1.1 and FLS 1.2 are enabled

  • Click the Advanced tab.
