    Noticed shortly after upgrading the Asus VivoTab Smart to Windows 8.1 (from Windows 8) — that sometimes (but not all), the system’s date and time will be incorrect. Sometimes it’s as fast as three hours, but others much longer. Interestingly, if you go into PC Settings > Time & Settings and then toggle off the “Set time automatically” option, and then toggle it back on, the time and date are correct. However, the time would again be wrong after a shutdown. Following the other advice and threads on this forum, I entered the desktop and clicked on the time in the lower right-hand corner of the screen. From here I confirmed the time zone was correct and changed the date and time. That fixes the problem during the current session, but the time/date are again wrong on reboot.

    Some quick fixes for incorrect date and time on your Windows 8.1 tablet

  • Click on the ‘date and time’ notification area in the task bar
  • From there, select ‘Change date and time settings
  • Now, i the date and time window, you will need to click on the ‘Internet time’ tab
  • From here, click on the ‘Change settings’ option
  • If ‘Synchronise with an internet time server’ isn’t checked, then make sure you have it checked
  • Change different time servers and save and see if this has fixed the problem
  • If the issue still persists, then you can try the following:

  • Open the “Command Prompt” and select “Run as administrator”
  • Run the following commands one by one and press enter after each command on the command prompt window:
  • Restart and then check to see whether the problem is still there. If so, try to run an SFC Scan

    The “sfc /scannow” command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions.

  • Open the “Command Prompt” and select “Run as administrator”
  • Run the following command – sfc /scannow
