- Many are eager to try Ubisoft's new game but few will be able to play it with max details.
- This is because the HD Texture Pack actually requires PCs to have 11GB of VRAM installed.
- Pretty over the top, considering most manufacturers don't build that type of graphic card.
- But you can still enjoy Far Cry 6 without this HD pack installed, so don't worry about it.
We know, everyone’s excited about Ubisoft’s new blockbuster title. And you should be, considering it really looks and feels awesome from what we could tell after a first impression.
And as much as we hate bursting your bubble, know that you might not even be able to enjoy the amazing graphics to their full extend unless you have the necessary hardware.
The high-resolution textures in Far Cry 6 for PCs require graphics with at least 11-12GB VRAM to run.
Far Cry 6’s HD Texture Pack requires 11GB of VRAM
Even high-end NVIDIA graphics cards, such as the GeForce RTX 2080, will struggle to load the 35GB-heavy HD Texture Pack of Far Cry 6.
And for the irony to be complete, NVIDIA’s high-end graphics card only has 10GB of VRAM, which is 1GB short of what is required to run the new game.
Also important is the fact that the RTX 3080’s compression techniques aren’t quite up to the task of running the property.
Due to their VRAM capacity matching the minimal requirements, the recommended cards for running these high-end graphics are RTX 3090 Ti, RTX 3090, and RTX 3060.
The game runs smoothly on the majority of processors and graphics cards. However, the difference will be clear when the huge HD Texture Pack is enabled.
At this time, anyone lacking an 11GB or higher VRAM graphics card should remove the HD Texture Pack in order to play the game without difficulties.
How can I reduce stuttering in Far Cry 6?
There is, of course, a variety of ways to avoid the annoying lags caused by FPS decreases, as well as other issues.
One approach would be decreasing the graphics settings of Far Cry 6. This action would actually free up some space on the GPU, allowing the game’s frame rate to improve.
And always remember to try to shut all background running apps while playing the high-graphics title. Some of the superfluous apps may be draining your system’s resources, preventing the game from performing at its optimum.
If you remember, not long ago, we also mentioned that Far Cry 6 doesn’t support ray-tracing on Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
