Microsoft had recently decided to pull the November update, which was available via ISOs and the Media Creation Tool. There were quite a lot of issues and bugs caused by it, but up until today, we could only suspect if that was the reason why Redmond has decided to pull the ISOs.

Today Microsoft has made the ISO files once again available for download and explain that the reason for pulling them had to do with a bug that affected the privacy settings of some users. The company said the following in a recent statement:

Recently we learned of an issue that could have impacted an extremely small number of people who had already installed Windows 10 and applied the November update. Once these customers installed the November update, a few of their settings preferences may have inadvertently not been retained. For these customers, we will restore their settings over the coming days and we apologize for the inconvenience. We worked to resolve the issue as quickly as possible – it will not impact future installs of the November update, which is available today.

It’s actually funny that Microsoft only mentions “an extremely small number of people”, because the Microsoft support forums were full with all sorts of problems reported by users. Microsoft actually release the KB3118754 update file to fix some of the issues with Windows 10 v1511, but there are many problems that still persist.

Thus, the Windows 10 Fall Update is once again available via the Media Creation Tool. If you have downloaded it before the problem was discovered, Microsoft said it will issue another update file to reset your settings in the coming days.
