  • Microsoft recently announced that users of the Windows 10 Home edition OS wouldn’t be able to control Windows Updates.

But probably because of many negative comments from users, the company decided to release a tool which will allow users to block automatic Windows 10 updates.

As a part of a huge update pack for the latest Windows 10 version, among other updates and improvements, Microsoft also released a tool which helps you to prevent automatic updates.

It actually allows you to hide unwanted updates, as Windows won’t install hidden updates.

Need more ideas on how to disable Windows 10 automatic updates? Check out this guide.

    Download KB3073930

If you didn’t receive this troubleshooter, which goes by the code of KB3073930, through Windows Update, you can download it from Microsoft’s website.

But, as Microsoft said, this troubleshooter is available only for the users of Windows Insider program, and it won’t make its way to the final version of the OS.

Since this tool works only in Insider build versions, this means that it will probably also work in the full version of Windows 10 when it gets released.

Using the troubleshooter is very simple, it works just like other Windows troubleshooters.

You just have to open it and select Hide updates. Once you select which updates you want to hide, Windows will hide them and they won’t be installed.

Updates are very useful for every Windows version because they provide additional stability and security to the system.

But, although it’s good for your system, a lot of people find downloading and installing them annoying, especially if they cannot control it.

So when Microsoft announced that all the updates for Windows 10 Home will be automatic, a lot of people were angry, and this tool can fix things at least a little bit.

Of course, if you don’t like the idea of downloading that tool on your computer, there are other methods that you can use to prevent Windows 10 from installing automatic updates.

For example, you can block the Update Services or set up a metered connection.

If you’re using Windows 10 Pro, you may consider yourself lucky. Users of this OS can use additional methods to block updates. They can even defer updates for up to 365 days.
