Microsoft rolled out the Windows 10 October 2018 Update (aka Windows 10 version 1809) last year. However, the latest AdDuplex Report (for April 2019) highlights that the Windows 10 April 2018 Update version still has the largest user base.

Thus, most users are still waiting to get last year’s 1809 update with Microsoft expected to release the Windows 10 May 2019 Update in May.

The new AdDuplex Report highlights that Windows 10 version 1809 has a user base share amounting to about 29.3 percent. In comparison, the April 2018 Update for version 1803 has a 63.2 percent user base share.

The AdDuplex Report also includes a 0.8 percentage figure for the upcoming 19H1 update, but that remains limited to Windows Insiders at the moment.

The Windows 10 April 2018 Update rolled out more quickly than any other build version, but it has been an entirely different story for the October 2019 Update.

Microsoft originally released the 1809 update in October. However, users started to report that they had lost files after the update. This left Microsoft little choice but to halt the update’s rollout to fix its numerous bugs.

Microsoft rereleased the October 2018 Update in November 2018. Yet, the big M still needed to fix certain issues with the update even after rereleasing it.

Consequently, the software giant has generally held back a widespread rollout for the 1809 update.

Microsoft’s Windows 10 version 1809 page provides further details for the current status of that update. That page states the rollout status for version 1809 as, “Available for any user who manually selects Check for updates via Windows Update.”check for updates windows 10

Thus, users might need to manually check for updates to get the latest version. To do that, enter ‘updates’ in Cortana’s search box, click Check for updates, and press the Check for updates button shown below.

Microsoft will soon release the Windows 10 May 2019 Update in May. So, quite a few users might miss the version 1809 update entirely when Microsoft starts rolling out the spring 2019 update.

Hopefully, that update will be somewhat smoother than the one before it.
