Plex is one of the best home entertainment services out and it was just updated with Live TV support.

Live TV Support

For the longest time, the Live TV feature was missing from Plex. Until now, users were able to record TV with its DVR feature but were required to use the web app to browse and schedule recordings. All this will change with the Live TV support feature that was added to Plex.

Now, Plex includes live TV channels and a front-end to its DVR f0r all of its client apps. The rollout will come in stages, and Android TV and iOS mobile apps will be the first to get the new features. Other platforms will follow one by one.

Plex Live TV and DVR, available to Plex Pass holders for free

Plex Live TV and Plex DVR will offer both local and international network programming with news and sports, and costs will be minimal compared to the ones involved in traditional cable or satellite packages and other live TV streaming services.

Plex Live TV and DVR will be available to Plex Pass holders for free with a one-time purchase of an antenna and digital tuner from a vast variety of providers. They will also work with any antenna, and it will support an extensive range of digital tuners.

There is no timeframe for the Xbox One and Windows 10 apps to be updated. Plex TV will be able to use the Xbox One OTA TV tuner to provide both channels and the possibility of recording.

To do this, you will have to own a Plex Media Server running on another device, and you will also need a Plex Pass subscription which you can purchase from the official website.
