Microsoft brought many changes with Windows 10, and one of the biggest changes is a new browser called Edge.

Even though Microsoft Edge is a great browser, some users reported that Microsoft Edge closes immediately after opening.

1. Consider using a different browser

Before committing to the multitude of solutions mentioned below, you should ask yourself whether it would be easier to just simply switch to a different browser.

2. Set a custom start page

Click the Menu button in the top right corner and choose Settings.

Under Open with section select A specific page or pages, select Custom from the menu and enter the web address of your new start page.

According to users, you can fix problems with Microsoft Edge simply by changing the start page. To do that, you might have to disable your Internet connection first, or unplug your Ethernet cable.

3. Turn on Windows Firewall

Select Windows Firewall from the list of results.

4. Delete your browsing history

Now go to the Clear browsing data section and click the Choose what to clear button.

Select Browsing history, Cookies and saved website data, Cached data and files and click the Clear button.

5. Edit the registry

Press the Windows Key + R and enter regedit.

Right-click this key and choose Permissions.

In Group or user names select Account Unknown (S-1-15-3-3624051433…) and check Full Control in Allow column.

Changing the registry is somewhat an advanced procedure, and sometimes editing the registry can cause certain issues with your operating system, therefore be extra cautions while editing registry.

You might even want to create a backup of your registry, so you can easily restore it in case anything goes wrong.

6. Create a new user account

Go to Family & other users tab and click on Add someone else to this PC.

Click on I don’t have this person’s sign-in information.

Click Add a user without a Microsoft account.

Enter the username (and password) of the new account and click Next button.

After creating a new user account, switch to it. If Microsoft Edge is working without any problems on the new account, you might want to move your personal files to this new account and use it as your main account.

7. Use PowerShell

Press the Windows Key + R, enter %localappdata%, and press Enter.

Go to Packages folder and delete the following folder from it: Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe

Right-click PowerShell from the list of results, and select Run as administrator.

When PowerShell opens, enter this line and press Enter: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge |Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml" -Verbose}

After your PC restarts, check if the issue is resolved. According to users, you can fix this problem by removing Microsoft Edge folder from your AppData folder.

9. Change the security permissions

10. Use a third-party tool

This problem can be caused by cached temp files, and to fix this problem you need to remove those files. One of the fastest ways to do so is to download and run CCleaner, so you might want to try that.
