Who wouldn’t want to live the life of a celebrity? While this probably won’t be the case for most, what is much easier is finding out which celebrity you most resemble thanks to Microsoft’s CelebsLike.Me app.
The app is part of Microsoft’s Cognitive Services program and uses recognition engines and algorithms combined with the new Bing image search to find your celebrity doppelgangers.
A series of criteria are used for finding a match: facial elements such as the jawline, eye spacing along with things like nose shape, hair length and color. It uses the largest vision-recognition engines in the world which were built by the Bing team and which recognize famous faces with high accuracy. The engine then links these images to two tools: the Bing Satori knowledge graph, where information about the image is available, and Image Graph, where data on visual features and web presence of the image is saved.
The engine communicates with Bing databases and uses the latest deep learning technologies, simulating human behavior in understanding and learning. The engine constantly extends its knowledge on the appearance of celebrity images, including those nominated for Oscars. Microsoft heavily finances research of this topic, so if you want to read more about the technology behind this app, you can check out this paper.
On the flip side, to see which celeb you look like, go to www.celebslike.me, upload your picture and click on the “Use this photo” option. The main result will be displayed on a bigger image while the other matches are presented under the “Other celebs your search matched with…” section.
