Sony is about to release a major firmware update for the PlayStation 5 and the company announced updates for both the PS Remote Play and PS App, with the former looking at a big update tomorrow.

So, the big news that everyone was waiting for is that Remote Play will finally support streaming PS4 and PS5 games over mobile data.

Prior to this, the console, as well as PS Remote Play were limited to work only over broadband. However, that’s all about to change and this is absolute music for all ears.

You can now stream your favorite PS5 games via Remote Play

The PS app itself will be updated on September 23rd with support for sharing screen broadcasts together from the app.

iOS users will be the first ones to receive this update, with the Android one set to roll out over the week. Here’s how you enable mobile data for remote play:

  • Access the Mobile Data settings menu on your mobile device, make sure it’s enabled, then select Video quality for streaming.ps remote play
  • Select Best (For PS5 and PS4 Pro only).ps remote play 2
  • Enjoy your favorite game.ps remote play 3
  • Broadband internet with at least 5Mbps is required for PS Remote Play, so keep this in mind if you want to try it.

For the best experience, we recommend a high-speed connection with upload and download speeds of at least 15 Mbps.

And to help manage the amount of data used through a mobile connection, players can select their preferred video quality for mobile data streaming, as we’ve shown you above.

Also, remember that the quality and connectivity of your Remote Play experience may vary depending on your mobile carrier network and network environment.

Other awesome updates are also on the way

Through the PS5 September update, players also receive support to experience 3D audio through their built-in TV speakers.

Once this feature is enabled in the Sound menu, it transforms standard two-channel TV speaker audio into three-dimensional sound, heightening the sense of gameplay immersion.

Gamers can measure the acoustics of their room using the microphone on their DualSense wireless controller to apply the 3D audio setting that’s optimized for their room.

Furthermore, players with a Pulse 3D Wireless Headset now have access to equalizer settings within Sound Controls, allowing them to customize the sound profile according to their preference.

PS5 players around the globe can expand their storage capacity with an M.2 SSD, a type of high-speed solid-state drive that can be installed in the console or PS5 Digital Edition console.

Once installed in your device, the M.2 SSD storage can be used to download, copy, and launch PS5 and PS4 games, as well as media apps.

You can play PS5 and PS4 games directly from M.2 SSD storage and freely move games between storage options.

However, the M.2 SSDs must meet the minimum performance and size requirements outlined by the manufacturer.

Using this addition also requires effective heat dissipation with a cooling structure (such as a heatsink) that meets the dimensional requirements.

Lots to be excited about if you are a PlayStation user, with a lot of new features and new games on the way.

But Xbox die-hard fans also have reasons for joy, as they can use their Xbox Series X/S consoles to stream to PCs,
