Bing users could soon customize the browser's homepage

Recent reports have revealed that Microsoft is currently conducting a test on Bing, offering users the possibility to personalize the browser’s homepage. It appears that Microsoft is randomly selecting the users who have the chance to test this feature first-hand, notifying them about this possibility via a pop-up window.

The criteria Microsoft uses to select its test users are still unknown, and for the time being, this test is carried out only in the US.

If you’re one of the lucky chosen few, you can try out two new options: you can hide your interest and news, and you can also hide the menu bar. In this manner, you can simplify Bing’s interface, focusing more on the important things. However, you can’t hide the menu bar completely. This option only hides the background and the items located on the left-hand side.

Of course, since this is only an early version of the test program, it’s very likely that more feature could be added soon. The test group could also be extended outside the US.

The lucky users who have been able to try out these new feature are satisfied with Microsoft idea. They also suggest the tech giant should make the search windows bar, so that the background image isn’t obstructed. Indeed, many Bing background images are amazing, and Microsoft has awkwardly placed the search bar over them.

As users suggest, a better idea would be to simply hide the search bar and activate it only when users move the mouse or click on the background image.

Speaking of Bing, Microsoft is also interested in making this browser as secure as possible. Bing now offers malware and phishing warnings, as well as detailed information about the threats detected, helping you to safely surf the Internet.
