Microsoft Teams screen sharing issues

If you are tired of seeing the same old backgrounds on your Teams web app, things could soon change.

Microsoft is currently in the works of testing custom background support from the latest update on the preview channel.

Microsoft has been working effortlessly to make the Teams app more user-friendly by adding more useful features. A while back, users were able to view their files offline.

Custom backgrounds soon to come

At present, the Microsoft Teams web app only allows users to choose from a set of pre-set backgrounds; it does not provide an avenue for uploading custom backgrounds.

The new version of the web app matches its desktop counterpart, which gained the ability to upload custom backgrounds last year.

You can change your meeting background by clicking ‘More actions’ and then selecting ‘Show background effects,’ followed by a click on the thumbnail image that best reflects what you want your background to look like. Once you have picked an image, you can preview it and finally ‘Apply’ if you like it

Available to public preview users

The background effects feature is now live in the public preview. At the moment, Microsoft is yet to give an ETA when you can upload from your PC.

Meanwhile, IT admins can find the Microsoft guide useful to help set up the Video effects policy. You can find more details on the support page.
