HP releases Pavilion Wave and Elite Slice, two impressive workstations

May 2023 · 3 minute read

HP is specialized in Windows laptops and tablets, and each new model has become thinner and faster, in one word: a masterpiece. But there are still many people who prefer home desktop PCs to play games, or business workstations, but the designs of these devices haven’t changed much over the years.

HP wants you to forget about the rectangular PCs that occupy a lot of space and offers you the Pavilion Wave home desktop PC with a reinvented design. Another new machine that looks interesting is the Elite Slice, a modular PC that will be loved by companies.

The Pavilion Wave resembles the cylindrical Mac Pro, featuring a compact, space-efficient 360-degree design. It measures 6.81×6.62×10.29in and it’s 85% smaller than tower PCs, being almost as tall as a gallon of milk.

[The Pavilion Wave] engineered to house three main zones for components: the motherboard on one side, the hard drive on the second side and thermals on the third side, which uses heat pipes to extract heat from the motherboard and the graphics card and out the top of the PC. 360 degree Multi-directional Reflective Audio delivers a crisp audio profile at all frequencies with the speaker centered in the device for amazing sound whether in mid, high or low ranges.

The price of this machine is $529.99 and it will be available in stores starting on September 16. It will run on Windows 10 Home and will be powered by the 6th generation Intel Core i5-6400T processor, which will be paired with  8GB DDR4-2133 SDRAM memory and Intel HD Graphics 530.

It will house a 7200RPM SATA hard drive with a maximum capacity of 1TB and will connect to a HP Premium Lifestyle Wireless Keyboard with volume control and optical mouse. In addition, it will offer four ports: 3 x 3.0 and 1 x USB 3.1 Type-C and will connect to a wireless network via LAN 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (1×1). Also, it will support Bluetooth 4.2 M.2.

As for the Elite Slice workstation, its price will start at $699, and it will offer two modules: an optical disk drive (ODD) module which will read/write CD and DVD, and a Bang and Olufsen Audio module which will take care of the sound quality and speakerphone capabilities. You will be able to configure the Elite Slice, as it’s available in three variants of Skylake processors (Core i3, i5 or i7) that can be coupled with up to 32GB of DDR4-2133 RAM and different variants of SSD capacities.

The workstation offers 8 ports: USB 3.1 Type-C (charging), USB 3.1 Type-C (alternate mode DP) 2 USB 3.1 Type-A (1 charging), DisplayPort, HDMI, RJ-45 and headphone-out/microphone-in combo.
