Windows-powered Alcatel Idol 4S launched last year is one of the few smartphones running Windows 10 on the market. After a year since its release, you will find it on sale in the UK under a brand new name: Alcatel Idol 4 Pro.
This device is the third model of the Idol 4S. There’s also an Android version powered by a Snapdragon 652 SoC and a BlackBerry version called the DTEK 60 with a Snapdragon 820 chip.
Alcatel Idol 4 Pro specs and features
The device has a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display protected by a 2.5D Dragontrail Glass. The display features an oleophobic coating and a viewing angle of 180 degrees. The Idol 4 Pro has 4GB of RAM paired with 64GB of storage space and a MicroSD card slot that accepts cards of maximum 512GB.
The back camera has a 21MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.2. the front camera has 8MP and it can record in 2K at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps, and 720p at 120fps.
The device features dual stereo speakers, a smart amplifier and a dedicated audio chipset for Hi-Fi audio. It also has Bluetooth 4.1 connection, a nano-SIM card slot, and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. It has a 3000mAh battery which supports Quick Charge.
The Idol 4 Pro is a flagship Windows 10 smartphone, therefore, supports Microsoft Continuum. All you have to do is hook up the phone to a Continuum accessory and pair it with a monitor, mouse, and keyboard and you’ll have a Windows 10-powered PC.
Pricing and availability
You can find the Alcatel Idol 4 Pro at £419.99 ($548.25). It also comes in Gold. Users from the US can purchase it from Amazon for £210.65 ($275), and they’ll also get a pair of Alcatel branded VR goggles with the device. If you’re planning on purchasing it there, you will have to make sure that the bands work with your network provider.
